I’m a postdoctoral research fellow in the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management at UQ. My current research focuses on understanding how the urban Brisbane landscape influences human well-being through the provision of ecosystem services (the benefits that people receive from ecosystems). I recently received my PhD from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, working on similar topics in agricultural landscapes. While at McGill, I led the creation of a science outreach project whose goal is to tell stories about how the ecosystems of Montreal influence people’s wellbeing in the city. We use a custom ‘blog-style’ website and social media (Twitter, Facebook) to connect with Montrealers with the environment around them. You can find out more at http://www.esmontreal.ca. I’m passionate about communicating science in non-traditional and diverse ways and am excited to be part of this group.
