I am originally from Germany and I came in 2011 to Melbourne, Australia to do my PhD in Urban Ecology at the University of Melbourne. The topic of my thesis is broadly ‘Creating shared wetlands for wildlife and people in an urban environment’. I am fascinated by the importance to include people’s aesthetic preferences in landscape designs, that some landscapes with ecological benefits do not necessarily elicit positive responses of people and finding endeavors which enable to influence people’s aesthetic preferences for ecological landscapes.
As far as for my own ‘creative journey’ and before my busy PhD life took over: I loved to paint/draw, sang in a choir and studied for several years two Indian classical dances, Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam (partly also in India). I am very excited to be part of this group and to be able to think how to combine ‘art with conservation’.
